Research, APA Style, and Writing Guides

Research and APA Style Guide 2010, 2nd edition
This is the APA style guide required in all CU/VŠM courses in English. It covers doing, using, and citing research in papers, presentations, and online posts, as well as formatting papers. Students can download it from the Academic Support section on the student section of this website, or they can purchase it in the library.

All instructors should have a copy of this guide as well. If you did not receive one, please ask your associate dean for a copy. It can also be downloaded here: Research and APA Style Guide 2010, 2nd ed.

All student work is expected to follow the standards in this guide (unless otherwise specified by the instructor). The following handout explains how you should use the style guide in your classes: "How instructors can use the 2010 guide"

If you would like some help checking and grading students' depth, use, and citation of research, here is a "Research and APA cheat sheet for instructors."

Academic Writing Guide
This is a resource for students, especially new students, about paper writing basics. It covers what students learn in the Intensive English Program's writing courses, so it is especially useful for students starting the BSBA and MBA programs without prior experience writing papers in English. It could also be used by other students who need to review how to write papers. Students can find it in the Academic Support section.

If as an instructor, you are not sure about the conventions of academic writing in English, please download the guide and take a look: Academic Writing Guide

If you would like students to write better papers in your courses, here is a short handout called "How to get students to write good papers."
